Migrating from Windows® Forms version to WPF version of Hierarchical Data Library, Gantt Chart Library, or Project Management Library
If you want to upgrade from Hierarchical Data
Library for Windows® Forms, from Gantt Chart
Library for Windows® Forms, or from Project Management
Library for Windows® Forms to the WPF version(s) of the same product(s), please be aware that:
-
The Windows® Forms and WPF versions of the DlhSoft products are in different products designed and developed from scratch for each target platform. In other words, it's not possible to easily migrate a project that is using a Windows® Forms control to the WPF version of the same control (if it exists), because of the conceptual and design related differences between them.
However, such migration is possible with less or more client source code changes (depending on what features you need to use);
-
Some product features may exist only within the Windows® Forms version, and other only in the WPF version. It is recommended to review the complete product comparison (for Windows and Web platforms);
-
Purchased product ussage licenses cannot be upgraded from the Windows® Forms version to the WPF version, even if the product name is the same (because they are different products designed and developed from scratch);
-
Instead of migrating, you may want to consider Windows® Forms integration within a WPF application, or WPF integration within a Windows® Forms application (if you use Microsoft® .NET 3.5 SP1 or a future compatible version). Such integration features can be technically applied by using the WindowsFormsIntegration package included within .NET Framework 3.5.
You can review more details about this topic in MSDN® or you could check our Windows® Forms Integration sample applications available for all our WPF controls (within the WPF versions of the products).
Where can I find sample applications?
