Performance of Gantt Chart Library and Project Management Library for WPF

Before continuing to the next steps that allow you to improve performance for the components in the main WPF libraries, to address performance issues, you should be notified that:

• We have developed a new set of Gantt Chart components for WPF (and Silverlight™) with less customizability, but significantly higher performance: Gantt Chart Light Library for Silverlight™/WPF;
• If you have a license for using a main Gantt Chart related WPF product, you are entitled to upgrade to the light product for free (for a Personal License upgrade) or with a high discount (for other license types): discounted price will be zero; to obtain the upgrade license, please go to the Purchase License page and request an upgrade to the appropriate product.

In order to improve performance for the components within Gantt Chart Library for WPF or Project Management Library for WPF, you should first try the tips offered in the Increase Performance sample application. To increase performance you should make sure that:

• you use simple data management mode with a manager object (i.e. you use a collection of SimpleTaskItem objects, instead of the standard TaskItem objects);
• you set asynchronous presentation mode (IsAsyncPresentationEnabled set to true), and also deferring data loading until the user scrolls down (setting a positive IsAsyncPresentationDeferredScrollRatio value, e.g. 0.25 or 0.5), if you don't mind having the data collection as read only in the user interface (data collection is read only, i.e. adding and removing tasks isn't permitted during asynchronous loading).
